Birthday Project Revealed - Recipe Journal for Nicole

Nicole just IM-ed to say she received my gift for her. I was surprised that it got mailed to her so soonnn (way before her birthday). Kudos to Singpost:)

Anyway, I wanted to upload the photos I've taken with the pages, but was so tired these nights that I haven't get to do it.

This is a photo she took with the album. I stole from her blog. She did lots of justice to my album:) Thank you girl. I love your work, your views are very different.

Maybe I should just wait for her to take pics of the photos inside and post here... hahaha.
Nicole did a VIDEO instead..check it out http://canican.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html.

Surprise!!

It was a zombie morning for me after a bare 5hours sleep. Then Judy passed me a mail which surprised me. I seldom recieve mails in my current role. It was a birthday gift from Melinda, my ex-colleague in the same building!!

Embossed stickers from Sweet Pea Studio...awwwwwwww so nice:) I always love their Baby series. It will make its way to Qi-En's first year album.

Mel, thanks for making my day ;)

a sweet note from mel

these stickers are as sweet as the sender :)

the project that keeps me hungry at nite....

If you read my previous post, I'm busy with a birthday project. In fact, I'm very behind schedule. I hope to mail it by this Sat. And I always crave for a supper while working on it... fat liao. Randy said I got him fatter...Oops!

I love some of the pages that I experimented with - using Hambly transparencies & 'weaving' pages. Oh, and the Heidi Swapp alphas are so pretty with the papers that I've choosen!! Thou' they are not really user-friendly.

Hambly transparencies..exp but so nice to use!!

DCVW glitter cardstock, compliments from Faith.

Heidi Swapp alphas go so well with the Collage Press PP...I love this :)

'weaving' method that I saw on TSL & tried it out. Not too bad~

Class @ MWL - Belly Beautiful

I attended this class on my birthday to give myself a treat. In the end, the class was sponsored by my colleagues from CBC & Faith (thank u all for supporting my creativity..muaksss!!).

I really enjoyed the class as it was well-paced and the group was kept small. We got lots of personal attention from the teacher which I think is important. The teacher, Aida Haron was such a motherly figure, full of smiles and patience. I'm looking forward to more of her new classes.
My word of advice, attend weekday afternoon classes, smaller size, more attention. I also get more time to complete my two 12 x12 LO.; which are so nice to bring home to:)
What I learnt from the class: I always marvelled at how some Scrappers can do layerings of different PP (Patterned Papers) which all seem so confusing and busy for me. This class taught me how to make full use of the so 'in' and pretty busy PPs. I've also learnt how to use simple bellies like buttons and ribbons to create an impact on a LO.
5 thumbs up!!!

1st Year Album for Shervelle

So here are the pics of the 6*6 album I did for my dearest niece, Shervelle.

What is a 1st-Year album? As most mummies know, babies achieve most of their milestones in the 1st 12months of their live. Your little baby will surprise you every month with their new development. This album is to capture the milestones Shervelle has achieved and Linda could share it with her when she grows up.

a little message for my dear niece ..

Verdict: a 6*6 mini album is a good way to work with, and I appreciate those double-sided decorative cardstock / pattern papers. It is a time-saver, and easy to play around with :)

Baby gifts

Wow, suddenly there are alot of baby showers in these few months. Here are two gifts I made for Lawrence's twins and April's princess.

For Kayla :This is my first official trial with Ikea's shadow box. Stealing the 'mobile' trinkets idea from Faith, I punched some pretty flowers and stick buttons to add weight. The result is very sweet. I love this:)

For Charlton & Royston: the twins are just so awfully sweet to look at (hmmm..how I wish I could have twins - boy & girl - then close 'factory').

I altered a Daiso Chalkboard (first trial too after reading so much on TSL forum). The result is very pretty. I have lots of space to work around with too. As it was really late, I took the easy way out by just painting the front of the frame. I should have paint the rear as well..lazy bum! I used the train-PP from Scrapbook Muse.. so lovely with the glitter; and I love the effect of my Dooblebug stamps..gonna use more of them =)

p.s: I'm looking forward to make one for bbLim and bbLoh ;)

stamping & me

Stamping is a very big part of card-making and scrapbooking. In fact, in the recent months - it just get bigger and bigger. I've seen lofters going crazy over all sorts of stamps.

They do look pretty to me - but I'm lousy with them. I first started out with ProvoCraft's rolling stamp - quite hard to turn - sold it off at the Loft. Then I bought a set of MM foam stamps. Very nice to use - but cleaning is a headache. Last Aug, clear stamp was all the craze. So I bought a set of MSE alpha stamps. Bought the wrong ones - now still lelong-ing on the forum. Seems hard to get rid of it.

Recently, I purchased the Dooblebug wooden stamps. I totally forgotten about it until I was clearing my stash for lelong in July. I used it on Lawrence's gift. Very easy to use, easy to clean. Verdict: love it:)

Then, I decided to give clear stamp a 2nd-try: I bought a 2nd-hand one from the Loft. Stitches clear stamp from Lassafra..still sitting inside the envelope. Gonna use it this weekend for a birthday project:)

from this.....

... to this:)
